NCDOT: Emergency repairs close lane on Causeway

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — An emergency repair on the Causeway Project has caused a mess during the evening commute.

According to an engineer with the NCDOT who oversees the project, a repair on a drainage grate has closed the inside westbound lane near the Brunswick River bridge. Just before 5:30 p.m. the engineer indicated it would be at least two more hours before the lane will reopen.

She added that they were going to do a nighttime closure, but the issue with the grate made the situation an emergency and traffic could not drive in that lane.
