NCDOT picks winners in bridge-building competition

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) – Exploris Middle School of Raleigh and Franklin Academy High School of Wake Forest are the winners in the state Department of Transportation’s bridge-building contest.

The final round was held Friday at NCDOT’s auditorium in downtown Raleigh.

The competition is designed to create a greater awareness of careers in and services provided by the transportation industry. The competition also provides an opportunity to use problem-solving strategies and critical thinking, enhance communication skills, and apply research and presentation skills.

Clarkton School of Discovery from Bladen County finished second among middle schools. East Bladen High School of Elizabethtown was second among high schools.
