Nearly 1,000 students graduate from CFCC

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Many congratulations are in order!

More than 950 students graduated from Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington Wednesday night in the Schwartz Center.

Some of the graduates were actually students who earned both their college degrees and their high school diplomas at the same time.

“It feels really amazing,” said Mariah Grace Sutton, a CFCC graduate. “I’m part of the Early College Program, Pender Early College, and just to have been able to be here at Cape Fear through the Early College Program for five years and to have this accomplishment is just amazing and exhilarating.”

Mariah Sutton says she will go to UNCW after graduation. CFCC officials say many of the other students will do the same and transfer to four year universities like UNCW.
