Nearly 300 soldiers return to Fort Bragg from overseas

FORT BRAGG, NC (AP) — It was a very good weekend for nearly 300 soldiers stationed at Fort Bragg.

The Fayetteville Observer reported that about 280 soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team of the 82nd Airborne Division returned to Fort Bragg on Sunday.

The soldiers had been in Afghanistan for nine months as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The soldiers arrived at Pope Field and marched to a building where family members and friends waited.

Brig. Gen. Richard D. Clarke told the soldiers and their families and friends that the troops made a difference for the Afghan people and their government.
