Neighbors helping neighbors by collecting items for Burgaw food pantry
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — This holiday season there are more people than ever that need a helping hand putting on the table. A Brunswick County neighborhood is trying to fix that.
Neighbors in the Park Landing neighborhood of Brunswick Forest have been collecting food for weeks for the St. Joseph Food Pantry in Burgaw.
On Wednesday, they met to box up over the 500 pounds of food.
Paula DeSilva helped set up the food drive. She says it was a no-brainer to help out especially with the tough times everyone has faced this year.
“Why wouldn’t we want to do it to help our neighbors? DeSilva said. “There are a lot of people who are struggling without you know without jobs and the end is coming that things will get better, but for the moment it’s very tough on so many who don’t have their jobs or they’ve been furlough and it’s better to give than receive.”
If you are in need, the St. Joseph Food Pantry is open Thursday from 1 – 4 p.m.
