Neighbors say lightning hit house and started fire

The fire broke out around 4 p.m., Thursday on Brookshire Lane. A neighbor smelled burning wood and ran next door to knock on the door. When no one answered, she ran back to her house and called 911. Myrtle Grove and Wilmington Fire Departments responded to the call.

The homeowners were out of town so no one was injured.
Two dogs were inside the home and firefighters saved them. Neighbor Meghan Richmond says she was scared and you just never know.
