New business coming to Wrightsville Beach hopes to make a splash
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A new business is coming to Wrightsville Beach.
It’s a concept that’s catching on in waterfront cities all over the country, and soon folks in Wrightsville Beach will have the option to sign up for a membership that will allow them to take out boats without having to worry about owning and maintaining them.
Membership for this program isn’t necessarily cheap. It’s nearly $5,000 to join and $425 a month, but the owner says it is about 30 percent of the overall cost of owning a boat yourself.
Owner Scott Weismantel is preparing an area on Wrightsville Beach for the business. He says our area is the perfect spot for this innovative concept.
“Wrightsville Beach has a very high density population, however the number of boat slips in the area are actually limited,” Weismantel said. “I’ve been finding out lately that some of the boat slips are being treated like gold.”
All members are required to go through classroom and on the water training.
