New cold storage facility at port to bring 100+ jobs
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Port of Wilmington is adding something new to its facility, and officials say it will bring more than 100 jobs to the area.
Officials said the 101,000-square foot refrigerated warehouse is coming to the port, set to open some time after February of 2016. It will be used to help move products that need to be kept cold, such as poultry and fruits. At the groundbreaking, Governor Pat McCrory also talked about the importance of improving roads and other types of transportation. He said that helps connect the Port City to not only other parts of the state, but also connects goods from our state to anywhere in the world.
“So generations from now they’ll understand why we made that investment so they can have a great quality of life and opportunity,” McCrory said.
Port officials said this facility is the first in the state.
