NEW DETAILS: 911 call describes incident involving Marvin McFadyen
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A judge this morning granted a $1,500 unsecured bond for New Hanover County’s elections director about 36 hours after he was arrested for assault on a female.
Wilmington Police arrested Marvin McFadyen, 44, after getting a call from a woman with whom police say he shares an address around 10 p.m. Saturday. He was booked into the New Hanover County Jail around 11:15 p.m. and remained there until his bond hearing this morning.
McFadyen is allowed contact with the victim, who was at the hearing.
Prosecutors say they believe alcohol was involved in Saturday night’s incident. They also say McFadyen has two prior DWI charges and an arrest for firing a gun within city limits. Records show the gun charge was in Benson in 1993.
According to the 911 call placed by the victim, McFadyen threw the woman against a wall.
“I asked him to leave my bedroom, he threw me across the room three times, he slammed the door on my foot, I asked him to leave my bedroom and he would not … I want him out of my house,” the caller said.
New Hanover County Board of Elections Chair John Ferrante said this morning McFadyen’s employment status has not changed, and the Board of Elections has called an emergency meeting for 2:30 p.m. to discuss personnel matters. They decided to hold another meeting to discuss personnel matters on Thursday morning.
