NEW DETAILS: Deputy suspended after arrest

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputy has been suspended after he was was arrested last night.

New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer says Pender County investigators arrested Dep. Donovan Ray Ramos last night on a warrant for assault on a female. According to the warrant, he grabbed a woman and pushed her against the interior side of the front door. The woman suffered bruising to her arms and buttock, warrants said.

Brewer says Ramos is on administrative leave with no pay pending the outcome of an investigation.

Records show Ramos, 25, has been released from the Pender County Jail.
