NEW DETAILS: Employee hurt during McDonald’s armed robbery
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are searching for two suspects they say were armed when they robbed a Wilmington fast food restaurant, leaving one employee hurt.
Wilmington Police say it happened at the McDonald’s at 1415 Commonwealth Drive, near the intersection of Military Cutoff and Eastwood roads around 9:30 p.m. That’s where officers say the duo walked into the restaurant where four employees were working at the time, holding handguns.
Police say the two robbers demanded cash before they took off running from the scene. At some point officers say one of the employees got into a scuffle with a suspect and was injured. They say the employee was taken to the hospital by EMS for the injury.
Officers say the two men, one Hispanic male and one black male, were wearing hoodies and light-colored pants at the time of the crime. Police say K-9 units searched for the suspects at the scene, but were unable to track them in time. WPD is still investigating.
