NEW DETAILS: N. Brunswick student not shot near school
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Leland Police said in a news release Friday that some of the original details about a student shot near North Brunswick High School were incorrect.
The incident was reported Feb. 4 from the staff at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Police say they were originally told that a student was shot in the hand near the school’s campus. The school was never placed on lockdown, because school officials said the notification about the incident happened 45 minutes after the time the victim said it happened.
Today, detectives said the shooting did not in fact happen where it was reported; no word on the correct location of the incident. Police also said the shooting is now considered accidental and they cannot release information about the people involved due to their ages.
