New development coming to Oleander Dr.

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Parts of Oleander Dr. are getting some new retail shops and homes. Wilmington’s City Council approved the rezoning of the land for the area Tuesday. This despite folks concerns about the amount of traffic the new development would bring to the area and about what that traffic may do to people who want to walk or bike in the area.

“There is no accommodations being made for bicyclists or pedestrians at that particular intersection and more importantly there is going to be a green way that intersects with that particular intersection,” said Wes MacLeod a Wilmington resident.

The developer says they will make appropriate accommodations for pedestrians as well as improvements to the intersection at Oleander Dr. and Greenville Loop Rd. Council approved the changes unanimously.
