New edible cookie dough shop celebrates holiday
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Thursday is National Cookie Dough Day! And what better way to celebrate than by eating some edible cookie dough at a new shop right here in the Cape Fear?
Doh Cones just opened its doors in Mayfaire, and the edible cookie dough phenomenon seems to be catching on.
Many of us ate raw cookie dough growing up when mom or dad was baking in the kitchen, but that isn’t exactly safe. But that’s not the same as what you’ll get at shops around the Cape Fear.
Mackenzie Edge, who’s mother owns the shop and makes all the cookie dough, said this dough is different.
“It’s a great way to get, you know, your cravings. A lot of people are scared to eat cookie dough because it’s not safe to eat. Ours is made with heat treated flour and pasteurized egg product so it’s completely safe to eat. It kills all the bacteria, and that’s a lot of things that parents want to hear as well for their kids,” said Edge.
Doh Cones introduced new flavors and cookie dough bites in honor of the holiday.
There is another store that sells edible cookie dough on the Carolina Beach Boardwalk called Doh! Togo.
