New Hanover Co. ABC hires new CEO

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Alcoholic Beverage Control Board has hired a new CEO.

Marnina Queen starts in the position Sept. 1.

Originally from Sylva, Queen has lived for several years in Greensboro, where she worked for the Greensboro ABC Board for more than six years as personnel director/assistant manager. She also served more than four years as an education specialist with the NC ABC Commission.

Queen spent 12 years in the US Air Force, where she served as a medical service journeyman.

“I am looking forward to working for the New Hanover ABC Board and embracing a community that has so much to offer its residents,” Queen said in a news release.

Queen replaces Dan Sykes, who announced earlier this year his plans to retire.
