New Hanover Co. Animal Control Manager appeals termination

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Animal Control Manager Jean McNeil appealed her termination during a Health Board meeting Tuesday night.

McNeil was fired after being put on administrative leave at the end of last month. She claims being placed on leave was retaliation from her boss Health Director David Rice, after she raised concerns about employees not receiving emergency pay during Hurricane Irene.

She gave her appeal after the executive committee went into closed session to talk about the personnel matter. She says the committee has three business days to make a decision.
