New Hanover Co. Commission says ‘no’ to cell tower
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Commission denied the proposal to build a cell tower off of Murrayville Road.
The vote was 4-1 with Jonathan Barfield voting ‘no’.
T-Mobile’s plan to build a 150-foot cell tower down the road from Murrayville Elementary School brought a large crowd to Friday night’s meeting. Most of the people in attendance were in opposition of the cell tower.
Property owners were worried about the way the cell tower would stick out in their neighborhood, its impact on property values and health concerns. T-Mobile says the cell tower would have been safe.
