New Hanover Co. firefighter charged with DWI

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A New Hanover County firefighter has been charged with DWI in Brunswick County.

A Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said Brett Pierce was charged Saturday.

New Hanover County spokesman Charles Smith says the county has been made aware of the incident. Pierce has not been suspended, but Smith said the incident is “being reviewed as a confidential personnel matter.”

Records show Pierce, 32, is due back in court in Brunswick County Dec. 30.
