New Hanover County honors Educators of the Year
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Dozens of New Hanover County educators are honored for their outstanding ways inside and outside of the classroom.
The New Hanover County Board of Education and the Wells Fargo Foundation honored 44 Teachers of the Year and principals at the Educator of the Year Banquet. It was held at Ashley High School, June 7th.
The following were named New Hanover County Schools’ Educators of the Year:

Principal Dr. Lauren Kefalonitis, Bradley Creek Elementary School, was named the 2017-2018 Principal of the Year.

The 2017-2018 New Hanover County Schools Educator of the Year is Angela Hewett.
Each winner was cited for their outstanding contributions to education and presented with awards from the NHC Board of Education. As the NHCS Teacher of the Year, Ms. Hewett received the keys to a new Toyota Prius II to use for one year, compliments of Hendrick Toyota of Wilmington. In addition, The Wells Fargo Foundation, Inc. contributed $1,000 to each Elementary, Middle, and High School Teacher of the Year, and the Principal of the Year. Ms. Hewett and Dr. Kefalonitis will go on to represent NHCS at the regional level and possibly advance to the state level.
