New Hanover County’s newest green space
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Tomorrow New Hanover County’s newest green space is officially open to the public.
Cape Fear Museum Park used to be a parking lot, but now it’s home to interactive exhibits, history on the Cape Fear region, and native and adaptive plants.
Museum Director, Sheryl Mays, said the new space encourages folks to get up and get outside.
“It’s important for kids and families or adults to get outdoors. You use all your five senses. We’re behind computer screens, we look at our phones, we do things and we don’t use all of those,” Mays said.
There will be special events throughout the weekend to celebrate the opening, including a family day on Saturday with special exhibits outside and free admission to the museum.
The park will be open from sunrise to sunset each day and is free for anyone in the community to come out and enjoy.
