New retirement resort not living the old lifestyle
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – There are more signs that the Cape Fear region is a retirement destination. Another senior living resort has opened its doors with new ways of turning silver into gold.
More and more retirees have been moving to the Port City and they aren’t coming here to just relax, they are also coming here to have fun. Retirement resorts have been popping up all around the country and now we have a brand new one in Wilmington.
Cambridge Village had their official ribbon cutting Thursday evening and opened their doors to the public. Marketing manager Beverly Booth says the resort is not about calming down as you get older but getting more lively than you ever were.
“We offer tons of activities and opportunities to learn, grow, meet new people, socialize,” Booth said. “This is not your traditional kind of community with bingo and that kind of activity.”
The retirement resort is at about 50 percent capacity already but they are looking for more tenants. Census data shows the Cape Fear is one of the fastest growing areas in the southeast.
