New Wilmington development among first to get AT&T Fiber
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington’s new RiverLights community will be one of the first in the area to get ultra-fast internet access via AT&T Fiber.
AT&T announced last month plans to launch in Wilmington the service that features a one-gigabit connection.
AT&T says the service is “a boon for businesses and residents alike.”
“We want to bring ultra-fast internet speeds and access to content in near real-time to more customers,” Peter Feeney, AT&T vice president of multifamily and connected community sales, said in a news release. “We’re working with property owners, management groups, homeowner associations and developers to expand the availability of ultra-fast internet over our 100-percent fiber network. This will make properties more attractive to potential residents and businesses.”
AT&T says through its fiber service, customers will experience internet speeds 20 times faster than the average cable customer. The company says that means users can download 25 songs in a second or a 90-minute HD movie in less than 34 seconds.
