New $100 bills
Benjamin Franklin is getting a facelift to fight counterfeiting. Treasury Department officials have unveiled the new $100 bill.
It’s the first remake of the c-note since 1996. The new design includes several anti counterfeiting measures, including a blue, three-d security ribbon. Inside the ribbon, bells change to 100’s as you move the bill.
The Bill also includes an inkwell with a bell inside changes from copper to green. In addition, you can see a second, watermarked portrait of Franklin when you hold the bill up to light.
The bills will not be in circulation until 2011.
