New Hanover County Commissioners to vote on sewer treatment facility
New Hanover County commissioners meet Monday night to vote on building a new sewer treatment facility on Highway 421.
The waste water treatment plant will be a joint project between Pender and New Hanover Counties. It will serve both counties and officials say it will not effect current water and sewer capacity for residents.
New Hanover commissioners hope the facility will bring more businesses to the area.
New Hanover County Commissioner Bill Kopp said, “Where it’s really going to help New Hanover County is from an economic development standpoint from industrial development on the 421 corridor.”
Monday night’s vote will decide whether or not the developer can begin the early stages of the project, including a feasibility study and an environmental impact study.
