New Hanover County names principal of the year

WILMINGTON — One of New Hanover County’s own has been named principal of the year. Principal James McAdams of Ashley High has been in the school system for more than 30 years.

He says the award isn’t just for him to celebrate; rather, it’s an honor for the entire school to share.

McAdams said, “It makes me feel really good for Ashley. We worked very hard this year to try to improve our school, so it’s an honor for me but it’s also an honor for the entire school.”

Principal McAdams will go on to represent New Hanover County schools as principal of the year in a regional competition.
