New Hanover County reports first rabies case of 2010

New Hanover County has its frist confirmed rabies case of the year. A pet dog attacked a raccoon on Sharon Drive in Wilmington Friday night.

The state lab has determined that the raccoon was rabid. The incident underscores the need to make sure your pets are current on their rabies vaccinations. New Hanover County Animal Services will hold a free rabies vaccination clinic on March 20. The clinic runs from 1 to 3 p.m.
