New Hanover football faces “new” opponent in playoff game

The New Hanover High School football team has a new second round opponent for their state playoff game. The Pine Forest Trojans will visit Legion Stadium Friday, despite the fact the Trojans lost in the first round to Terry Sanford High School.

Pine Forest lost on the football field, but the team won in a Cumberland County courtroom Tuesday afternoon. At issue – the eligibility of a Terry Sanford player. That player was ultimately declared ineligible.

A judge ruled Terry Sanford can no longer participate in the playoffs, so Pine Forest will be coming to Wilmington Friday night.
