New Hanover High senior headed to Wake Forest
WILMINGTON — New Hanover High School senior Ty Walker took a major step in his basketball career Wednesday.
The seven-foot one-inch, 220-pound center at New Hannover High School signed a letter of intent with Wake Forest University Wednesday afternoon in the lobby of Brogden Hall.
Walker is ranked fourth nationally at his position and is excited about the prospect of joining the Demon Deacons.
Last season Walker was the co-conference player of the year, Eastern Regional MVP and State 4A MVP while leading the Wildcats to their first state title in 39 years.
New Hanover kicks off the new season November 24 at home against Village Christian Academy.
