New Hanover school enrollment higher than expected

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — This year there are more new faces than the New Hanover County school system expected. The district said it had more students than it estimated when the school year started yesterday.

A district spokeswoman said they were expecting around 24,000 students in all grades, but ended up with 600 more students. She said it is not unusual to have more than expected as families move into the county every so often.
