New public restrooms open in downtown Wilmington

The battle for public restrooms in downtown Wilmington has been long fought, and there is finally some relief. Two restrooms opened in the Market Street parking deck on March 30th, right before the Azalea Festival.

Downtown resident Wade Griffis has wanted to see more public restrooms for years and said this is a step in the right direction. He commends city leaders for the new facilities. “I appreciate it and I want to give them the thanks from all of us who have wanted this for many years.”

The restrooms were built in the parking deck as a result of public demand. There are also plans to add additional restrooms to the Visitors Center at Water and Market Streets.
