New station for Brunswick County Sheriff’s Department opens in Calabash

Residents in southern Brunswick County can feel a little safer tonight. The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Department held the grand opening for a new substation in Calabash.

The new station will allow sheriff’s deputies to cut response times to the surrounding areas. Calabash Mayor Anthony Clemmons said it is a great addition to the community. “Citizens can rest a little at ease if something’s going on in the neighborhood that they’ll have quicker response time and during the dark hours of night they can feel a little more secure,” he said.

Use of the building for the new station was donated by the property manager. Residents will be able to use the facility to file for gun permits, respond to summons, and to report crimes.

It will be home for 2 investigators, at least 10 volunteers, and several deputies.
