New wing at NHRMC

A new pediatric unit is coming to New Hanover Regional Medical Center and it will have some special decorations.

On Saturday, volunteers of all ages spent the afternoon painting tiles. Their creations will be displayed in the new Betty H. Cameron Women and Children’s Hospital.

Emily Getz has spent a lot of time at New Hanover already with her disabled son Cameron. She said both of them were excited to contribute to the new facility.

“He’s worked for it,” Getz said about Cameron, who suffers from cerebral palsy. “He’s been here plenty of times.”

The new pediatric unit is scheduled to open at the end of August.
