NHC Board of Education to vote on proposed budget Tuesday
The New Hanover County Board of Education will vote on its proposed budget Tuesday. Superintendent Al Lerch said this has been the most challenging budget process in his 25 years with county schools.
The school system is forced to cut about five percent of its total budget, or about ten million dollars.
Options on the table to save money include changing the bus routes and eliminating buses, eliminating about 200 positions and reducing funding for supplies and text books.
The board of education meets Tuesday at Rachel Freeman Elementary to approve the proposed budget.
