NHC Sheriff’s spend Memorial Day helping with child protection
Members of the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office spent National Missing Persons Day handing out free child ID kits and safety information
The event was part of the Take 25 program to heighten awareness about children’s safety. Officers encouraged parents to take a kit for each child, fill in the child’s information and keep it at home in case of emergency.
“It only takes a minute to fill out, it’ll help you find your kid, in case the worst nightmare of a parent ever happens and your child disappears, it’ll track them down,” said Stacy Davis of Carolina Beach.
President Ronald Reagan proclaimed May 25th National Missing Persons Day in 1983 to serve as an annual reminder and to make child protection a national priority.
