NHCS announces make-up schedule for Wrightsboro Elementary School
New Hanover County Schools has established the make-up schedule for Wrightsboro Elementary School students in grades 1 – 5. Wrightsboro students missed five days of school in March when the district had to close the Wrightsboro campus for mold remediation. State law requires that students receive a minimum of 180 days and 1,000 hours of instruction during the academic year. The missed instruction time will be made up over the course of three Saturdays and two additional days at the end of the school year. This new schedule does not apply to Wrightsboro Kindergarten students because they were able to continue school at Castle Hayne Elementary and did not experience an interruption in instruction.
The make-up dates established for Wrightsboro students in grades 1-5 are:
* Saturday, April 17
* Saturday, April 24
* Saturday, May 1
* Wednesday, June 9
* Thursday, June 10
Student Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on all five days
Each of the three Saturdays will have a theme and will focus on preparing students in grades 3-5 for their End of Grade tests and students in grades 1-2 for their End of Year Skills Assessments. June 9th and June 10th will offer students opportunities to participate in enrichment activities and will provide ideas to continue learning throughout the summer.
Additional communication is available for parents on Wrightsboro’s website at www.nhcs.net/wboro. The school has also added an Alert Now icon on the website to post written copies of informational messages sent to families.
