NHRMC holding radiothon to benefit children

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – The New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation is partnering with Sunny 103.7 for the 8th Annual Caring for Kids Radiothon.

It’s a two-day fundraising event that will be broadcast live from the Betty H. Cameron Women’s & Children’s Hospital lobby.

This year, the Radiothon will raise money for the Pediatric Infusion Program to purchase vein finder technology to make the administering of medications more efficient and comfortable.

NHRMC says the Pediatric Infusion Program treats about 50 children a month who were previously traveling several hours out of town for infusions that treat diseases such as cancer, Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and other chronic conditions and syndromes.

The Sunny 103.7 Caring for Kids Radiothon at NHRMC is scheduled to air Wednesday and Thursday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day and will include live interviews with physicians, staff and the Pediatric Infusion Program leaders and patients.

Listeners will also hear pre-recorded stories of patients and family members who have been treated at NHRMC Betty H. Cameron Women’s & Children’s Hospital.

Last year the Caring for Kids Radiothon raised more than $50,000 to purchase equipment to diagnose and treat children with cleft lip and/or palate and maxillofacial conditions.

To make a donation during Radiothon, call 910.667.KIDS (5437) or donate online at www.nhrmcfoundation.org.
