NHRMC Physician Group opens COVID-19 vaccine appointments for those 75 and older
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — NHRMC Physician Group Primary Care established patients who are age 75 and older can now make an appointment to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.
NHRMC Physician Group Primary Care practices serve patients at multiple offices and locations: New Hanover Medical Group, Coastal Family Medicine, NHRMC Physician Specialists – Internal Medicine Specialists/Care Team, Wrightsville Beach Family Medicine, Pender Primary Care, and Jacksonville Primary Care. Appointments are required to receive a vaccination, which will be administered at central locations in Wilmington and provided at no cost to the patient.
The primary care practices can begin offering the vaccinations to anyone age 75 and older because North Carolina has opened eligibility to its phase 1b, group 1 of the state’s vaccination plan. NHRMC Physician Group will announce when additional groups are eligible to make appointments to receive a vaccine.
The NHRMC system expects to receive additional allotments of the vaccine weekly, so future appointment availability will depend on the number of doses available. New Hanover County is also providing 1,950 doses to NHRMC to vaccinate eligible patients as part of the county’s efforts to quickly dispense the vaccine.

Below is a quote from New Hanover County’s Health and Human Services Director Donna Fayko about this important work and our partnership with NHRMC:
“We appreciate the partnership of NHRMC in helping to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to those who are 75 and older in our community. By transferring a portion of our vaccines to the hospital, it will further Public Health’s efforts to get the vaccine to some of the most vulnerable in our community as quickly as possible. NHRMC is a public health partner and an extension of our work in the community, and we are grateful to coordinate with them in this way. Currently, the only authorized COVID-19 vaccinators in New Hanover County are the county’s Public Health Department and NHRMC. In the coming weeks and months, we look forward to local physician practices and health clinics receiving authorization from the state to administer the vaccine to their patients as well. It’s going to take all of us working together to ensure we reach everyone who wants a vaccine, and we have a great collaborative team to do it.”
