NHRMC facility changes are more patient friendly

New Hanover Regional Medical Center proudly showed off some new patient-friendly renovations Wednesday. The rooms are on the hospital’s top two floors, and are just the start of a big renovation project.

New features include private patient rooms that are comfortable for family members when they come to visit. High-tech rooms near patients give doctors and nurses access to computers and medical records. Hospital staffers say the new facility is just another way New Hanover regional looks to personalize health care.

“Most people don’t want to have to share; when you’re sick, it can be stressful, now you can be in your own room, be with your family, watch the TV, turn it on and off, and just be quiet and rest,” said CEO Jack Bartow.

Patients will move into the newly renovated floors June 27 and 28. The hospital will renovate the other seven floors in the patient tower two at a time. Work should be done by the end of next year.
