NHSO, District Attorney ask for tips on double homicide, reward offered

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff‘s Office along with District Attorney Ben David held a news conference at 2 p.m. on Wednesday to discuss Saturday morning’s double homicide.

The shooting happened at a home on Providence Road owned by TRU Colors Brewing COO George Taylor III.

The victims have been identified as Koredreese Robert Tyson, 29, and Bri-yanna Emily Williams, 21.

A third female victim was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest.

During Wednesday’s news conference, both Sheriff Ed McMahon and David implored anyone with information to come forward, surrounded by victims’ family members.

“We’re asking for our community’s help to help us just stop this crazy senseless killings and shootings that we’re having,” McMahon said. “Crime Stoppers has partnered with us and are offering a $3,000 reward for any information that may lead to an arrest.”

David says in order for justice to be served, witnesses must come forward ideally with corroborating evidence. He adds retaliation is not the answer.

“All of us can agree that a heinous crime like this needs to get justice,” the DA said. “Everyone can agree that the best place to do that is not out on the street but it’s in a courthouse.”
