No arrests during Wells Fargo Championship, 7 escorted out for intoxication

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Out of thousands and thousands of people, no one attending the Wells Fargo Championship at Eagle Point Golf Club got arrested, but a few did get escorted out by sheriff’s deputies.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says seven people were “overly intoxicated” and forced to leave during the tournament. A majority of them were kicked out on Saturday, according to Lt. Jerry Brewer.

Brewer says deputies used Uber to send two people home at a cost of just over $40 to the Sheriff’s Office. He said One person lived in a nearby neighborhood and walked home.

The four others were taken home by sober family and friends, Brewer said.
