No injuries reported in fire at NHRMC parking lot

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Fire officials said improperly discarded smoking material started a brush fire this afternoon.

It spread to three cars in the parking lot at a hospital.

A WPD spokesman said the fire was reported just before noon in the parking lot at New Hanover Regional Medical Center near 17th Street. Officials said the three cars were destroyed.

No one was hurt. The area was cleared just before 2 p.m.
