NO PORT Southport plans forum to discuss environmental concerns

The group opposing a planned international port in Southport is sponsoring a forum Thursday night on environmental impacts of the project.

NO PORT Southport has assembled a panel of environmental scientists to give short presentations and discuss the environmental concerns about the international terminal plan.

The group will also announce the winner of its contest to come up with an alternative idea for the 600-acre property.

The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Southport Community Building on East Bay Street.
