North Myrtle Beach resident contracts West Nile virus
HORRY COUNTY, SC (WPDE) — A North Myrtle Beach resident has contracted the West Nile virus, according to city officials.
The City of North Myrtle Beach was notified by the South Carolina Dept. of Health and Environmental Control that a person who lives in the area of 22nd Avenue North contracted the West Nile virus.
It’s important to note, however, that it’s not clear where the person contracted the virus, as the person was living with their parents in another city in an area that flooded during Hurricane Florence at the time they were most likely to have contracted the virus.
The affected individual is said to have possibly been “functioning at a work location in that city.”
