North Topsail Elementary shows off progress on mural project, made through bottle caps and community

HAMPSTEAD (WWAY) — North Topsail Elementary is close to showcasing the community-driven success of its Bottle Cap Mural Project.

Families have contributed thousands of bottle caps since April of this year, diverting waste and transforming the caps into a special school mural.

Kindergarten students sorted caps by color, creating a visually appealing palette, while third-grade students painted the mural’s background, tying into their ‘Wit and Wisdom’ module focused on the ocean.

The next phase involves the drilling process, which staff initiated in November.

Now, every student from kindergarten to fifth grade will participate in the transformative project, with support from teachers and parent volunteers.
