Northchase Library opens this week in northern New Hanover County

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County will celebrate the opening of its newest public library this week with a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The ceremony for the new Northchase Library is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

The nearly 20,000-square-foot facility is the fifth branch in the New Hanover County Public Library system and the first built to serve the county’s rapidly growing northern communities.

The new library includes spaces designed for all ages, including a teen multimedia and gaming room, a children’s storytime pavilion, study rooms and a dedicated tween area.

Visitors will also have access to a collection of about 50,000 books and other materials.

County leaders say the new branch is intended to expand access to library resources and provide additional gathering and learning space for residents in northern New Hanover County.
