Nuclear plant staff donates bikes to kids

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Kids in the Cape Fear are getting an early Christmas present. Employees at Progress Energy’s Brunswick Nuclear Plant are donating more than 1,700 bikes to elementary school children in Brunswick and New Hanover Counties. It’s their annual bike drive.

Today several kids at Wrightsboro Elementary got their new bikes.

“What I like about it is that it’s big and that it’s a mountain bike,” third grader Jamal Taylor said.

Volunteers will deliver bicycles to four more elementary schools this week. This is the 14th year the plant has held its holiday bike drive.
