Oak Island town manager fired

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Tim Holloman, the town manager of Oak Island, is out of a job.

According to Oak Island spokesman Kyle Thomas, the town council voted four to one last night to terminate Holloman. His last day on the job was Wednesday, Thomas said.

“They said it was time to move in a different direction,” Thomas said. Holloman started as town manager less than a year ago. Before that, he was town manager of Topsail Island.

“He wasn’t a good fit,” Councilor Charlie Blalock said.

Lisa Stites, the town clerk, has been appointed as interim town manager. Mayor Cin Brochure had no comment on the reason behind Holloman’s firing, but she and Councilor Loman Scott confirmed Holloman would receive six months severance because his termination came within six months of an election, as per his contract.
