Obama to visit Edwards in Chapel Hill
WASHINGTON (AP) — The courtship of former Democratic presidential contender John Edwards continues sometime this evening when Illinois Sen. Barack Obama visits his former rival in North Carolina.
The exact time of Obama’s visit isn’t certain. He will be in Maryland for campaign stops in College Park and Baltimore before traveling to meet Edwards. It’s not known where the two men will meet.
Edwards withdrew from the campaign on Jan. 30. On that day, he did not at first endorse either Clinton, seeking to become the first female president, or Obama, the strongest black candidate in history. Both candidates praised Edwards — and immediately began
trying to woo his supporters.
Clinton and Obama supporters have been feverishly courting superdelegates who had endorsed Edwards. Many of them are from North Carolina.
