Ocean Isle Beach golf course worker killed

OCEAN ISLE BEACH, NC (AP) — A maintenance worker at an Ocean Isle Beach golf course has died after the equipment he was driving went into some water on the course.

Multiple media outlets reported that 46-year-old Jose Morales of Calabash died when the maintenance equipment he was driving went into the water at the Tiger’s Eye golf course late last week.

Brunswick County sheriff’s spokeswoman Emily Flax said the circumstances of the accident are unclear. But Flax said there is no sign of foul play.

She says a preliminary autopsy indicated that Morales drowned.

Flax said two other workers pulled Morales from the water near the golf course’s fifth hole and performed CPR but could not revive him.
