Ocean Isle Beach book to hit shelves soon

A book devoted to Ocean Isle Beach history will soon hit store shelves.

Authors Vern Bender and Fred David joined WWAY this morning on Good Morning Carolina for our weekly Book Corner segment. Their book is appropriately called The History of Ocean Isle Beach. It features more than 200 color photos from Old Brunswick Town to Calabash, and plenty of stories from times gone by.

“It appeals to all people; the history from Cape Fear Indians, the pirates, the explorers and then the Civil War. For instance, Tubbs Inlet, the blockade runners used to come in there,” said book author Vern Bender.

The book will come out in June, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Ocean Isle Beach.
